Marilyn J (Olson) Gremmels

Marilyn Gremmels, age 75, of Glenwood, passed away January 11, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, following a battle with cancer. A celebration of Marilyn's life will take place in late spring in Glenwood. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Marilyn Jean Olson, daughter of Alvin Olson and Violet (Ringdahl) Olson, was born October 23, 1950 in Alexandria, MN. She grew up in Sedan and graduated from Glenwood High School with the Class of 1968. She later earned a bachelor of arts degree from Augsburg College and spent the majority of her career working in finance operations, including over 20 years at the University of Minnesota, Morris.

On August 25, 1984, Marilyn was united in marriage to Peter Gremmels of Glenwood. The two made their home in Glenwood where they raised their children.

Marilyn was a math whiz who found joy in gardening, solving jigsaw puzzles and sudoku, watching Wheel of Fortune, cooking and baking, eating well, and playing cards and board games with family and friends. Above all, she lived with deep respect for all people and genuine care for her neighbor.

She is survived by her husband, Peter Gremmels; daughter Angela (William Rennie) Erickson of Chanhassen; sons Sean (Amber) Gremmels of New Ulm, Steven Gremmels of New Hope, and Ethan (Taylor) Gremmels of Forest Lake; grandchildren Elle Grussing, Bode Grussing, Milton Gremmels, Greta Gremmels, and Nellie Gremmels; sister Dianne Flugge of St. Anthony, nieces, nephews, and her beloved dogs.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Violet, and a niece, Vicki Olson.
